A Local Authority based in Greater Manchester is looking for a Building Control Surveyor to join their team.
This is full time, temporary role and the ideal candidate will hold a rel event Building Control degree and have extensive experience in a similar role.
The purpose of the role is to undertake building regulations and public safety inspections and plans assessments in accordance with the Building Regulations 2010 and Building Act 1984 and all associated activities - including report writing, record keeping, responding to enquiries from the public, elected members, other officers and agencies etc. The maintaining of the councils building control records in a secure manner and acting in accordance with the councils general policies and procedures.
The work will involve compliance assessment and enforcement across the whole spectrum of building types and tenures. From low rise domestic housing, to Commercial, Education, Health care, Entertainment as well as mixed use high rise residential buildings.
The role holder will carry out the examination of building plans and inspect work or events in progress under the provision of building control legislation. This will include the administration and enforcement of public safety legislation in relation to dangerous, ruinous and dilapidated buildings and demolition.
The role holder will be expected to check plans and carry out site inspections of buildings and structures of any form and prepare clear and accurate reports and notices that can be used for legal purposes.
The role holder will assist in the development of less experienced personnel and in the undertaking of work of a complex nature, dealing with dangerous buildings during normal working hours, as well as participating in the out-of-hours emergency call-out procedure, in respect of dangerous buildings.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent, in a related discipline and studying/gaining experience towards professional membership of a building control related organisation - Assoc of Building Engineers (MBEng), Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £30 - £35 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £(Apply online only)p/week NET after deductions) although this rate could be negotiable dependant on experience and qualifications.
