Job Description

Our client are a leading UK construction and infrastructure company based in south east London. They operate across a range of specialities including demolition, waste management, asbestos and rail. They have an exciting opportunity for an Stores & Yard Operative to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time position based at the head office near Sidcup. This is a good opportunity for someone to further their career within construction. There is a platform to progress within the organisation. Main Responsibilities: Managing Deliveries and Collections: Efficiently handle deliveries and collections in the yard, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Store Management: Keep the central stores adequately stocked, and promptly report low inventory levels to management. Collaboration with Plant Manager: Work closely with the Plant Manager to maintain a seamless flow of operations. Equipment Proficiency: Demonstrate a good understanding of construction plant and equipment to support various projects. Tool and Equipment Handling: Select tools and equipment based on project load lists and load/unload them from vans as needed. Stock Checks: Conduct regular stock checks in coordination with the Plant and Purchasing Manager. Yard Maintenance: Assist the team in keeping the yard clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic equipment maintenance, including cleaning, washing, PDI (pre-delivery inspection), PAT testing (training available), and basic repairs. Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts within the yard (training provided). Deliveries and Collections: Make equipment deliveries and collections from project sites as directed. Waste Transfer Station Support: Offer support to the Waste Transfer Station during busy periods (training provided). Adaptable Support: Be ready to undertake any other duties as requested by the Plant Manager in the yard. Safety and Representation: Wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, upholding standards and values. Continuous Learning: Attend all training provided by the company to enhance your skills and knowledge.
