About the role
You will be responsible for the overall day-to-day delivery and management of asbestos in properties owned or managed by the Group. Completion of Management and R&D surveys, re-inspections, preparing reports, maintaining and updating their asbestos register, auditing of asbestos removal works, contractor and consultant management, preparing feasibility studies, cost appraisals, specification writing, programming, training, quality and financial control and payment. You will provide technical support to the Group and supervise internal and external contractors approach to asbestos safety.
You will formulate and review policies and procedures relating to all aspects of work undertaken, ensure legal requirements and good practice are observed and Group policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
You will be responsible for carrying out asbestos Management and Refurbishment/Demolition surveys on a variety of domestic and commercial properties in line with HSG 264 and company policy. You will need to carry out periodic re-inspections of known and assumed asbestos containing materials and prepare surveys/reports.
You must ensure their asbestos register is kept up to date and carry out regular validation exercises. You will carry out sample audits of licensed and non-licensed removal works carried out by approved contractors and internal staff to ensure legislative and policy compliance.
It is essential that you are qualified in the following:
NC in a Building related subject or qualified by experience.
Asbestos Surveying experience in a UKAS Accredited Consultancy
You must have knowledge of property maintenance and building construction. To be successful in the vacancy you must have a track record of managing all aspects of building contracts; supervising contractors and consultants, monitoring performance and delivering projects on-time within budget.
You will be well versed with Health & Safety procedures and have the exposure of preparation of policies and procedures and method statements
It would be desirable if you had:
Possession of a BOHS P405 Asbestos certificate.
Membership of C.I.O.B. or R.I.C.S.
Risk management experience.
Understanding of contract law.
Experience of working in the social housing sector
