Our client is a privately owned specialist sub-contractor who specialise in reinforced concrete structures, Civil engineering/infrastructure, rail, and demolition. The projects they work on have a great variety with values ranging from £620,000 up to £30M. Their works are within the private and public sectors working with well-respected Main Contractors such as Volkerfitzpatrick, Bam Nuttall, and Balfour Beatty. As well as having a brilliant selection of clients they have also worked on a great selection of projects such as Crossrail, Thameslink, Hinckley Point, HS2, and BBC television studios. Over the past year, they have continued to tender strategically and have generated a very strong pipeline of work. Because of this drive for quality, this has enabled them to expand their engineering team with an opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to play a key role on some prestigious schemes across London.
About the Opportunity
As a senior project engineer on-site, you will be reporting to the project manager / director supporting them with establishing the construction plan and engineering methods in addition to assisting with equipment selection and coordination. You will also be aiding the project director in Pre-construction activities such as selection of Form-work/False work and Core Methodology. As no2 on-site the project engineer will attend progress meetings with the design team to coordinate design and re-bar take off. They will also attend weekly meetings with site QS to track costs and variation work from clients.
In this role you will be tasked with leading and managing a team of site engineers on various tasks including but not limited to: Setting-out, re-bar take-offs, temporary works, QA duties and as-built responsibilities. This is very much an assistant to the project manager level role as Project Engineer.

About the Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity the successful professional is required to be degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 45 years’ engineering experience on-site, working within this sector needs to have been gained. Prior experience of setting-out groundworks, RC frames and similar packages is a must as even though this role will not involve setting-out, you will be required to oversee the setting-out teams. Other preferred traits for this position involve a good commercial awareness with exceptional people skills and the ability to present ideas and negotiate. Teamwork is a key aspect of this role yet a willingness to work independently to solve problems is also necessary. IT skills are increasingly important for engineers working on-site and in the site office so a high level of competency in this area is vital
