Ecologist – LMJV (HS2) – Birmingham – 12 month fixed term contract  A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ecologist to work on the UKs most prestigious infrastructure projects, as the ecologist for the project you will provide advice, assurance and support for work undertaken by LM, ensuring that work packages are designed and delivered in accordance with the HS2 environment contract requirements including the HS2 ecology technical standard and licence requirements What you will be doing  •    Provide expert ecological advice across all levels to support the delivery and handover teams and sector senior management •    Provide ecological support across several work packages – civils, species translocation, mitigation site construction, vegetation clearance, demolitions •    Review & approve of subcontractor documents such as PWMS/RAMS/ECOW records •    Support in meetings / advice to delivery teams on ecological constraints and mitigation •    Competent in the use of GIS system (LM Spatial – in house tool) and QGIS or similar to interpret data for non-ecologists •    Undertake site assurance visits  •    Attend walkovers with incoming contractor team and support with delivery of handover documentation  Who we are looking for  •    Degree or equivalent in ecology related subjects •    Member of CIEEM or other professional body •    Excellent interpersonal skills  •    Experience in using GIS and document management systems •    Two-five years’ experience in construction, project management, or environmental consultancy Desired: •    Licence holder for ecology surveys •    Class 1 bat or Great Crested Newt licence holder •    Experience in obtaining and administering consents for one or more European protected species •    Experience in undertaking species translocation and / or mitigation design and implementation
