About the Role Working closely with the Head of Estimating and Bid team, the individual has the responsibility for the production of cost estimates from first principles on a variety of specialist rail systems or multi-disciplinary rail projects. Duties & Responsibilities * Prepare detailed tenders and estimates from first principles within defined timescales * Ensure that estimating procedures are followed in the production of tenders. * Liaise with other members of the Estimating and Operational teams to deliver high quality estimates and tender submissions * Participate in the detailed risk assessment process on all bids * Ensure all tenders are fully reviewed by Senior Management * Be able to communicate programme and risk related issues to the bid team * Hand over successful bids to the project team * Take reasonable care for the health & safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work. * Cooperate with Keltbray in all matters pertaining to Health & Safety to enable the company to carry out its legal duties and requirements. * Responsible for The health, safety and welfare of all persons under your control. * Assist with the creation and maintenance of the catalogue of estimating with the estimating software Skill & Experience * Commercially aware and highly numerate * Excellent organisational and time management skills * Good understanding of the NEC Form of Contract but not essential * Good understanding of the Network Rail Standard Forms of Contract but not essential * Experience of multi discipline rail systems bids * Excellent communication skills * Production of subcontract enquiries * Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel and Word * Knowledge of proprietary estimating systems (Candy) would be an advantage * Have experience of producing multi-disciplined high value, high quality tender submissions * Technical knowledge of rail systems Qualifications * Degree level or equivalent HNC/HND in a relevant industry field Equal Opportunities Keltbray are an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable
