Job Description

Ambitious Site Manager required to work with the team as No2 to the Project Manager to construct a £20m new build academy secondary school in Bristol. The scheme in secured and going through the second stage preconstruction process currently, due to commence on site in early 2022. The project duration is in excess of 2 years in total, including the second phase demolition sports pitches and landscaping works be completed in early 2024. Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for managing all site-based construction activities from initial site set up onwards. You will have overall responsibility for the construction across the building, including long and short-term programming of works, ensuring company health and safety standards are achieved, review of method statements, risk assessments, site logistics, quality control, implementation of inspection and test plans, client liaison, coordination meetings, reporting on progress against programmes, issue resolution, etc, snagging and handover. You be responsible for ongoing management, training and development of your more junior Assistant and Trainee Site Managers also. At the same time, you will be a key part of the senior management team on site, and ideally be demonstrating the potential for future progression toward the PM role. Excellent opportunity to work with this leading main contractor on this new build education scheme. About the Company/Client/Project: The role is with the busy regional office of this leading national contractor with a proven track record in the successful delivery of projects ranging from £15m to £50m in the commercial, secondary and higher education, luxury retirement, leisure, MOD and MOJ sectors. Geographical patch focus is Bristol and Bath, Berkshire, Wiltshire. Workload is secured on a mixture of national and regional frameworks, competitive tenders plus negotiated works with repeat clients. Turnover for the region is circa £110m, with a 100% percentage already secured for next year and into 2023. With an excellent reputation for training, development, and the opportunity for progression within the business, this contractor has a very low turnover of staff, and long term career employees in key management and director positions. Requirements including certificates and qualifications: The successful candidate will be highly motivated and proactive, demonstrating excellent technical, organisational, man-management and communication skills. A proven track record of 5-10 years of working for and developing within a top twenty main contractor will be advantageous. You will ideally come from a construction management, engineering or trades background, be educated to degree level or similar NVQ level, with a sharp eye for detail and quality throughout. You will be forward thinking and resourceful, possessing the ability to plan ahead, identify and resolve issues, work well within a team, see the big picture, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach. You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role.
