Job Description

Temporary Works Design Engineer / Manager - Concrete Frames, Groundworks & Basements (3+ years’ experience as a minimum) Location: Hertfordshire based office Salary: £60,000 to £90,000 + full benefits About the Employer: Our privately owned client who is based just outside North London in Hertfordshire is a leading name within the reinforced concrete frame and groundwork sector of construction with a group annual turnover in excess of £140 million. Operating as principal contractor, their services include groundworks & foundations, basement construction including top-down construction, sub and superstructure concrete frames and associated externals. With a low staff turnover, this contractor rarely recruits and this opportunity has arisen purely due to company expansion and healthy order books. Having recently met with this business and several of the leadership team, I would highly recommend them to any professionals looking for a polished contractor who can offer them the opportunity to work on complex and technical schemes in the city and fantastic career progression opportunities will be available. About the Opportunity: Due to ongoing company growth, my client is looking to expand their in-house temporary works design capabilities and is therefore recruiting permanently for a Design Engineer or Design Manager (depending on the amount of experience gained) to provide design engineering services within the Temporary Works Design Team. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will be competent in the production of temporary works within the sectors mentioned above and will represent the company at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers. About the Requirements: In order to be considered for this opportunity, you should hold suitable tertiary qualifications. Additionally, you will have vast working knowledge of the current ‘Euro’ code design standards, hold a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in the design of temporary works within sectors such as RC frames, groundworks and basements and have good knowledge of the use of AutoCAD / 3D Modelling. About the Benefits & Rewards: For this permanent opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere from £60,000 to £90,000 per annum however there may be flexibility on this as the specific salary will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package on offer in addition to the usual benefits associated with a large successful company. About Me, Your Consultant: My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 15 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition. So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on each of them (the good parts and the less positive parts), helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths, I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you. How to Apply: I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete. Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.
