Salary: Site Engineer: £25,000 to £35,000 Per Annum + Package (Negotiable on experience)
Senior Engineer: £35,000 to £45,000 Per Annum + Package (Negotiable on experience)
Our client, an established and leading Principal Construction Contractor, operating within Civil Engineering sector, is currently looking for a Site Engineer and Senior Site Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role sits within their water division and will initially include working on a £20+ Million Project, including:
Construction of a 4km trunk sewer (opencut + pipejacking), including river, canal and road crossings as well as the construction of 22no shafts.
Construction of a 25m diameter pumping station and new permanent works compound and access, with associated rising mains and new outfall.
Construction of 1km of new foul and surface water sewers in the town centre to achieve Surface water separation.
Demolition and abandonment of the existing CSO, existing trunk sewer and associated manholes.
Modification and upgrading of pumps, pipework and control for the existing storm tanks.
Site Engineer daily duties:
Overseeing drawings, spotting potential areas either for error or for value to improve programme and cost.
Setting out, levelling and surveying the site.
Ensuring all work completed and materials used are per specifications.
Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant.
Reviewing and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or designer.
Liaising with project consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors etc.
Supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
Implementing quality control and health and safety matters on site and preparing reports as required.
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Senior Site Engineer duties:
Acting as main technical advisor to the site engineers & subcontractors.
Ensure Health & Safety are of paramount importance.
Regularly review project status, evaluating options to improve construction performance.
Ensure commercial challenge at all times.
Coordinating and delegating work load among sengineers + site control / surveying.
Procuring and maintaining surveying and setting out equipment.
Daily coordination and analysis of survey / settlement and monitoring results + distribution of the results to all stakeholders.
Checking and distribution of drawings / documents and quantities, ensuring calculations are accurate.
Overseeing all civil engineering drawings, spotting potential areas of error or for value improvement.
Supporting with the selection and procurement of materials.
Planning work & efficiently organising site teams, to meet an agreed programme deadlines.
Attending regular meetings with clients and consultants, keeping them informed of progress.
Supervising and monitoring the site labour force and monitoring the work of any subcontractors.
Overseeing quality control, ensuring Inspection & test forms are completed/recorded.
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may occur.
Promote Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting.
Helping to ensure all project KPI`s are achieved.
Cost risk management and early identification of problematic issues on site.
Candidates will ideally have:
Previous experience delivering AMP6 or AMP7 projects and heavy civil engineering works.
Be conversant in setting out and surveying techniques and the use of modern instrumentation.
Relevant qualifications, such as a degree/HNC/HND/NVQ + CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid. (Dependent on level)
Be I.T literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft packages and CAD.
