  • Prime Safety Services Ltd
Course Prime Safety Services Ltd Courses

Job Description

Description

Intended for those who have or are about to move into a supervisory role. Training aims to provide existing and new supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. The SSSTS course also highlights the requirement to promote Health & Safety and to supervise effectively.

This course is nationally recognised as the mandatory training for all persons with supervisory responsibilities on Build UK sites.

Is your company a CITB Levy payer? If your company employs less than 99 PAYE employees, you could apply for a CITB Skills & Training fund to cover part or all of your training.

The CITB SSSTS course can be run over 2 consecutive days or 1 day per week over 2 weeks.

Programme

Over the two-day course, each delegate will;

  • Understand the problems of the industry
  • Have an understanding of how Health & Safety law is structured and how it applies to Supervisors.
  • Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the management structure in controlling the site safely.
  • Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements.
  • Carry out effective site inductions, toolbox talks and task briefings.
  • Be able to monitor site activities effectively.
  • Understand the importance of timely intervention when bad practice is identified.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for current supervisors or those looking to move into a supervisory role.  Over the two days, the course will advise them of the Health & Safety responsibilities they will acquire when supervising on a construction site, their legal duties and what will be expected of them

This course is an ideal foundation for obtaining a basic understanding of Health & Safety duties and responsibilities for junior management. Upon successful completion of this course and after gaining valuable site experience in a supervisory role, the natural progression would be the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course. Existing Site Managers, Agents, Surveyors and persons holding positions of managerial control should attend the five-day SMSTS course.

Assessment

On day two of the course, all delegates will be assessed via a CITB question paper.  Upon successful completion, a five year certificate will be issued.
