Job Description

Construction Director £150,000 – £200,000 plus full benefits and bonuses Specialist Reinforced Concrete (RC) Frame Subcontractor About the Opportunity: This is a new opportunity for 2022. I am looking for someone who is either already a Construction Director / Operations Director that has a strong background working for rival RC frame and groundwork subcontractors in the UK, or someone who has hit a glass ceiling where they are and is in search of that next step up to Construction Director level because they are ready for it (again must be from a rival contractor though in a Contracts Manager or higher position). If you’ve worked in this sector at either of those levels, you’ll know what is involved in the day-to-day duties; Your position will sit on the board and will effectively report to the top of the business while overseeing operations across multiple live sites where concrete frames and groundwork packages are being completed (package values range from £10m up to £100m each). You’ll be expected to oversee and develop the site-based management and teams, while integrating with the various clients of the business to make sure projects are carried out in the best manner possible. And yes, while programme deadlines, budgets and safety on every site is crucial to any successful contractor in this field, you’ll also be one of the senior members of the team whose responsibility it is to develop client relationships and to make sure everything keeps moving in the right direction (and making improvements along the way too). I should highlight though; you won’t be doing all of this alone. The team at this business is exceptional. They have one of the best operations, technical, safety, engineering, commercial and preconstruction teams in this sector and are widely known and recognised even by rivals as one of (if not the) very best concrete frame contractors in the UK. About the Employer: Having worked with this contractor for the past 10+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability. They now currently turnover around £200 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £100 million each for a variety of residential and commercial contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots. I know each of the directors of this business and I would highly recommend them all as leaders in their own rights, but also as a unit that works well together to make the business stand out. On a personal note, it is hard for me not to say this business is the best at what they do. And I mean the best of the best. Their project portfolio speaks for itself. But combine that with what their staff, clients and even rivals think of them, they are definitely the one to work for. About the Requirements: To be successful I am looking for individuals who have worked in this position or who are ready for this position that have a strong background working for concrete frame & groundwork subcontractors in the UK. It has also been specified that I am only to consider people who have held stable periods of time with each employer as this position is important and my client only wants to consider people who are in it for the long run. I would expect that individuals will either be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management. About the Remuneration: This is a director level role, where you will have ownership of your own department and a seat at the table to help influence the future of this business, so obviously the package will fit the level of responsibility. So, I’m open to considering what people are currently on versus what they are looking for salary and benefits wise. So, in short, if you are successful in getting this opportunity you’ll be paid well with benefits at every level down the road. All fantastic opportunities should offer fantastic rewards and this one will not disappoint. About Me and How I Work: My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 15 years’ experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment. During this time, I have specialised in the niche sector of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition. Q: What does this mean for you? A: I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a very positive reputation because I’m honest and I always consider every person’s individual desires before trying to match them with prospective clients. I will tell you what I know and then let you choose. My job is to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you. I am always open to having confidential conversations with individuals interested in expanding their careers. If the right options don’t exist for you right now, we can stay in touch. If however, we have companies that could be ideal for you; I can tell you all about them. How to Apply: I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete. Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.
