Our client is a major global player in the Nuclear industry. Operating on a UK Nuclear licensed site specialising in safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services based in Capenhurst, Chester.
The role holder will be required to supervise the activities of personnel carrying out construction activities on behalf of the company (which includes employees, ASW’s, CSW’s and external contractors) on a day to day basis to ensure that all activities are executed in a safe, cost effective and reliable manner in-line with legislative and company procedures. The role objective is to ensure that construction, maintenance, demolition and decommissioning works are carried out safely, in accordance with the design, project specification, security standards and contractual requirements. The role holder shall work closely with the wider site including Chemplants, Nuclear Stewardship and various departments including Maintenance, Infrastructure and Operational departments.
The role holder will report directly to the Senior Construction Supervisor and where applicable will be embedded within the relevant Project Teams also reporting to the Project Managers, frequently being responsible for the delivery of multiple construction projects and shall be appointed as Principal Contractor / Contract Supervisors for relevant projects.
• The role holder will be required to have extensive interaction with project teams across the Capenhurst site, this shall include both internal parties and external contractors. The role holder will be required to develop strong working relationships across all of these areas in order to be able to effectively influence people outside formal reporting lines.
• A significant element of the role is to have the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders to ensure construction activities are planned, coordinated and approved prior to implementation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The Construction Supervisor will be expected to be an integral part of the project team and where required attend and chair progress meetings and report to the Project Manager. The Construction Supervisor is expected to be involved within projects from inception, through execution, commissioning and handover to the end user. Continually liaising with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, third parties and End Users.
• The role holder is to have comprehensive knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, assist in their implementation and accept the role of Principal Contractor, leading on the development and implementation of arrangements for the practical and pragmatic implementation of applicable law, relevant good practice and business requirements and ensure excellent standards of health and safety are achieved. Where applicable the role holder shall highlight and report any shortfalls in behavioral and health and safety standards or work practices, obtain advice, provide guidance and assist in determining and implementing associated improvement activities.
• As a minimum the role holder will need to be proficient with the use of the main elements of the Microsoft Office Package. They will also need to be proficient in the use of other internal software packages such as ReAct and applicable document management tools. In addition to this it will be a requirement that the role holder can effectively use information technology to carry out effective research in relevant areas.
The role will be based at our Capenhurst Site near Chester. We offer free parking and there is a train station a few metres away from site with frequent trains to Chester or the Wirral
